THE CORK POPS

Evelyn Grant has created a new live multi media concert for primary and post primary schools with the Cork Pops Orchestra ‘A World of Rhythm’, in City Hall Cork November 6th at University Concert Hall.

She is joining forces with award winning producer, composer, DJ and instrumentalist DJ Dashka and singer Phoebe Dipple and Chris Hurley, Cork Film Centre, to create a show which will introduce a younger audience to the joy of a live music performance with the use of digital technology.

Dance music producer DJ Dashka adds a new twist to his very popular music production demonstration, playing saxophone on his own tracks and on some recent pop hits.

Table Quiz

Our annual table quiz will take place on Friday 15th November in the Crossbarry Inn at 9pm. This is one of our biggest fundraising nights of the year and a great community event so we would love to see as many people as possible come along on the night. Round up your relatives, friends and neighbours – everyone is welcome! Its always an excellent night out!
*Don’t worry if you can’t make up a full team, come along anyway as there are always people looking to make up teams on the night*
Also we will be looking for spot prizes closer to the time so if you have any ideas or contacts for this please contact one of the committee members.

School Walk – the weather may have been damp but our spirits weren’t!

It started off as a dreary morning but the enthusiastic people in our community arrived at the school at 2 pm and set off despite a little drizzle!  However, it dried up during the walk and it was enjoyed by everyone.  Any little stragglers were picked up by car so everything was under control!  Thanks to everyone who helped on the day, the road marshals, the drivers and all those who donated and helped with the teas/coffees and home baking.  It was lovely to see everyone sitting down after chatting away, especially the grandparents and other people from the community who went to the school as a child.

Don’t forget to return your sponsorship cards!!

Thanks again:)

New Year, New activities!

The children are well settled back into school after Christmas and have lots of activities to keep them healthy and fit.

They are doing Irish Dancing, starting this Tuesday and tomorrow its Gymnastics.  On Thursday they have Football and Hurling and finally on Friday, there’s Rugby.  It’s a great opportunity for the children to try all of these out, especially if they are not doing any of these after school.

They will be well fit for our School Walk in April!!!!!

Christmas Mass – a great success as usual

What a lovely morning at the annual school  Christmas mass last week.  There was a huge welcome for Fr. Finbarr who calls to the school on a weekly basis and the children love to chat with him.  As Fr. Finbarr said this mass is the start of Christmas for everyone.  All of the children in the school participate whether its on stage in the Nativity Play, reading, singing, floor manager or sound technician!!  Parents, guardians and grand parents have to fight for seats at this happy event!!.  It is a fabulous social gathering with tea/coffee and cakes after, organised by the Board of Management.
