For One week every year we have a science week.We also go to the Science Fair every year in the City Hall .We are always doing science projects in school.Science is fun.

Halloween Dressup.
We all had great fun coming to school in our Hallow’een costumes on October 23rd. We had ghouls, goblins, ghosts, witches and many other fantastic costumes. Here are just a few:

Representatives from the Irish defence forces visted our school with the national flag.
Heritage In Schools Visit
Heritage in schools is a program where heritage specialists go to primary schools to teach them about heritage. This year we learned about Kinsale, the Lusitania and a local giant. 
Céilí Mór
Every year we have a Céilí Mór in the school yard.We invite a Céilí band and children,parents and teachers all join in the dances.
Playball
We had playball every Friday up to Christmas. Playball gives us an opportunity to do many different sports. It also improves fitness and coordination.
Junior Achievers
Each year we do junior achievers. We learn about business and being an entrepreneur.
Irish dancing with Fionnán.
Every Tuesday morning we do Irish dancing with Fionnán de Cogáin.We really enjoy it.The dances we do are:
The two hand reel.
Hay makers jig.
The two hand jig.
Highland fling.
And our favourite is Shoe the donkey.
Sciath na Scol
Good luck to the 5th and 6th Class boys and girls who are taking part in the Sciath na Scol football competition on Thursday in Shanbally. Hope they enjoy it:) Gurrane School Abu!!!

Get ready for the Halloween Disco which will take place in the school on Friday, 26th October.
Looking forward to seeing all the different costumes. Remember you don’t have to buy one, just use your imagination and whatever material you can find at home (but not your mothers curtains!).
It’s usually a great night, with plenty of dancing and treats for the kids (and the parents:)).
